The WNBA can’t seem to get out of its own way.
After experiencing a dramatic increase in viewership and fandom, league players, administrators, and executives insist on genuflecting to the woke mob and continue their devotion to social justice ideology.
In arguably its most eagerly anticipated season since the league debuted in 1997, the women’s professional basketball league botched an opening weekend of games that should have resulted in an unprecedented amount of positive public relations. Yet, after a May 17 game between the Indiana Fever and Chicago Sky, details of an accusation surfaced that claimed some fans were allegedly making racist comments toward Sky player Angel Reese. The same old, nonsensical racial grievances club that plagued the women’s professional basketball league in 2024 reared its ugly head.
The WNBA said it would launch an investigation into the incident. Less than two weeks later, the league couldn’t find any proof and released a statement regarding its findings.
“We have investigated the report of racist fan behavior in the vicinity of the court during the May 17, 2025 Chicago Sky at Indiana Fever game,” the WNBA statement read. “Based on information gathered to date, including from relevant fans, team and arena staff, as well as audio and video review of the game, we have not substantiated it.”
No kidding!
To the surprise of absolutely no one with any sanity or common sense, the WNBA found it could not “substantiate” any claims of racism in its investigation. Every intelligent person who isn’t a member of the anti-racist cult knew there would be no evidence of racism, bigotry, or racial discrimination. Sadly, it’s not the first time it has happened in the WNBA, and unless people start getting some courage to reject these left-wing cultural warriors, it will not be the last.
At some point, an executive in the league must have enough courage to confront these agitprops, stop entertaining these baseless accusations, and not surrender and agree to launch time-wasting investigations.
Beyond this most recent incident in the WNBA, however, these kinds of hate crime hoaxes have become far too common in recent years. They are predicated on concocting bogus instances of racial discrimination, all to ensure the left-wing cultural narrative of the United States being a country filled with racist white bigots doesn’t fade into obscurity.
Look no further than the Covington Catholic students hoax, the Jussie Smollett hoax, the Colorado Springs Mayoral Election hoax, and the Amari Allen hoax. There appears to be such a void of racist behavior in the U.S. that there’s now a concerted societal effort to create incidents that portray white people as bigots even when it doesn’t exist. Unfortunately, the WNBA joined that bandwagon.
The left-wing obsession with claiming racism, especially racism by white people, is well known. Yet, with all the constant fervor of warnings of rampant, uncontrollable racism, white supremacy, and the ilk, the fact that such hate crime hoaxes keep occurring is proof of the lack of racism in the country. Instead, it is as if they need and want racism to maintain its existence.
Unfortunately, the WNBA is following this sad and toxic trend. Ironically, the league’s basis for doing so is rooted in supporting a de facto racial discrimination against its newest star player, Caitlin Clark. In 2025, the hype surrounding the women’s professional basketball league is arguably built on hate crime hoaxes and anti-white bigotry. Consider just some of the derogatory comments made to or about Clark simply due to her skin color.
For example, The View host Sunny Hostin said Clark’s popularity was primarily due to her “white” and “pretty” privilege. Two-time WNBA MVP A’ja Wilson also attributed Clark’s immense popularity to “white privilege.” Others have made similar comments. All of them are demeaning messages solely based on Clark’s skin color, not her skills. They use inflammatory and offensive rhetoric that they would never say if Clark were a non-white female basketball player. It’s the kind of thing the diversity and inclusion crowd claim to loathe, yet they do it themselves when they deem it necessary.
WNBA UNABLE TO ‘SUBSTANTIATE’ CLAIMS OF RACISM IN ITS INVESTIGATION
The WNBA proudly claims it supports diversity, equity, and inclusion. If it truly does, then it will do so by embracing Clark, stopping giving credence to frivolous fan claims of racism, and not succumbing to political pressure to launch foolish investigations. None of those are needed for the WNBA to flourish and continue its increase in ratings. The WNBA and Clark’s anti-white critics must evolve past their intolerance and bigotry.
The WNBA needs to dump its anti-white bigotry and penchant for hate-crime hoaxes. The sooner, the better.
