Coming up on seven months after President Donald Trump beat former Vice President Kamala Harris not only among all male 18-year-olds, but also among nonwhite male 18-year-olds, something that has never happened before, the Democratic Party still is at a loss about how to attract young men back to the party.
When comedian Bill Maher asked the Democratic National Committee’s youngest vice chairman, David Hogg, what the party could do to win over men, Hogg said that Democrats need to stop being “judgmental a**holes.”
“What I think happened last election is younger men — they would rather vote for somebody who they don’t completely agree with, they don’t feel judged by, than somebody who they do agree with, that they feel like they have to walk on eggshells around constantly because they’re going to be judged or ostracized or excommunicated,” Hogg explained.
“Young people should be able to focus on what young people should be focused on, which is how to get laid and how to go and have fun,” Hogg finished, which earned him loud applause from Maher’s audience.

But is that all that young men really want? Just to get laid and have fun?
Because, if anything, that is what the Democratic Party has been selling young men for a generation now.
Just this past year, after the Progress Action Fund ran ads attacking Republicans for wanting to regulate pornography, a young male guest on The Dan Le Batard Show told Gov. Tim Walz (D-MN), the Democratic vice presidential nominee, that he was going to vote for Harris because she was “pro-porn.”
“Hey, you do what you do. You be you,” Walz responded. Sounds pretty non-judgmental to me.
And it is not like the Democratic Party’s infatuation with enabling abortion is sending a message of responsibility and commitment to young men either. The entire point of the abortion industry is to enable young men to have judgment- and consequence-free sex. As Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) posted after Roe v. Wade was overturned, “There’s a WHOLE lot of men whose lives, careers, and families have benefited from an abortion.”
The reality is that Hogg, Ocasio-Cortez, and the Democratic Party don’t give young men enough credit. Most of them want far more than to “get laid and have fun.”
HOW THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY BECAME A GENDER POLARIZATION MACHINE
Contrary to what Hogg and the rest of the Democratic Party think, young men want more than casual sex, pornography, marijuana, and video games. They want to become responsible husbands who can provide for and protect their wives and children. According to the Pew Research Center, of men aged 18-34 who do not already have children, 57% want to have children someday. Additionally, among all men, 71% say it is important for a husband to support a family financially, including 84% of black men and 78% of Hispanic men.
And there is only one party that wants to help men become husbands that can provide for their families — and it is not the Democrats.
