During a Cabinet meeting marking President Donald Trump’s 100th day in office, the Commander in Chief jokingly referred to his secretary of defense, Pete Hegseth, as the “least controversial person at the table.” It was a facetious comment meant to convey the vast number of political attacks Hegseth has endured since taking office. Much, if not all, of them, are smoke and mirrors intended to embarrass and discredit Hegseth. Look no further than the recent ridiculous attempt of a Democratic member of Congress to propose legislation to reduce Hegseth’s salary to $1.
Rep. Pat Ryan (D-NY) introduced amendments to the FY2025 Reconciliation Bill to “force accountability and end corruption at the Department of Defense.” However, Ryan’s solution was to introduce legislation that would, inexplicably, reduce Hegseth’s salary to $1. It was a humiliation tactic with the sole purpose of embarrassing Hegseth. It wasn’t a serious suggestion or a legitimate or viable solution. It was the latest puerile behavior from a performative, left-wing politician from a dishonest, agenda-driven political party. A proposal to reduce Hegseth’s pay to $1 accomplishes none of the things Ryan claimed he wanted to do.
It goes to show how unserious Democrats are and the genuine lack of concern they have over the Signal group chat mishap. They are trying to make a mountain out of a molehill. They know their gripes are insignificant, which is why they must amplify the performative faux outrage and keep attacking Hegseth. It is also why, even though the main culprit of the controversy was (former) National Security Adviser Mike Waltz, nearly all of the blame from Democrats is being targeted at Hegseth.
It’s the actions of a group of people who know they have nothing but must still feed their rabid political base. They should change their political nickname from “the resistance” to “the performance” because these flimsy, embarrassing, grandiose accusations of wrongdoing do not have much to stand on. Democrats know it. Hegseth knows it. Trump knows it. Every honest and objective political mind knows it. The attacks on Hegseth are about trying to save the ideals of political schemes and mechanisms of the Democratic Party machine.
Ryan’s arrogance is insulting, and while nothing will probably happen to him for proposing such illegitimate and disingenuous legislation, his credibility should suffer the most consequences. The simple fact is that Democrats hate Hegseth; they hate him almost as much as they do Trump. This is particularly true regarding Hegseth’s stated intention of destroying the toxic left-wing ideological initiatives associated with DEI and other “woke” political pursuits.
Democrats fear Hegseth because they know he is a legitimate threat to their very existence. To them, it is incomprehensible that he can wipe away all of their political and cultural gains with the swipe of a pen. He can shatter their decadeslong network of cultural brainwashing, manipulation, and indoctrination, especially within the military. Democrats prefer accomplices and sycophants such as Gen. Mark Milley and his quest to understand so-called “white rage” than Hegseth’s mantra of “DEI is dead.”
TRUMP PROMISES TO BRING BACK COLUMBUS DAY ‘FROM THE ASHES’
Ryan tried humiliating Hegseth, but, instead, revealed his true colors and ultimate intentions. He is not a serious person, and Democrats aren’t serious people. And none of them are genuinely concerned about national security breaches or failures. If they did, they would focus on implementing protocols to prevent communication vulnerabilities identified in the Signal Chat controversy. Instead, they want to get Hegseth’s salary to $1.
These are agenda-driven agitprops with pitchforks and torches looking to facilitate chaos within the Trump administration in a despicable thirst for political power.
