John Oliver, most known for being an unfunny leftist masquerading as a comedian, has created an uproar by criticizing bans on transgender athletes in women’s sports on an episode of his show, Last Week Tonight.
A member of the “L” part of the LGBT club, tennis legend Martina Navratilova had weighed in on a recent controversy, saying she was “fuming” over USA Fencing allowing fencer Stephanie Turner to be disqualified after she refused to compete against a transgender athlete.
After mocking Fox News for spending too much time on the fencer, the late-night host took issue with the right-leaning network not talking about the economic crisis, yet he chose to use his prime TV slot to discuss the same issue.
Does he not realize his home nation of the United Kingdom was one of the first to limit the transitioning of minors due to the massive amounts of data coming out about the mental, emotional, and lifelong physical damage and challenges it was causing the youth of the U.K.? Additionally, most sports in England have now banned transgender athletes from women’s categories, from field hockey to billiards.
Despite spending the majority of his show lambasting conservatives and feminists such as J.K. Rowling on the issue, Oliver did lament Gov. Gavin Newsom (D-CA) recently saying biological males taking titles from girls in sports is “deeply unfair.”
Oliver exclaimed, “For trans kids impacted by these bans who just want to play sports with their friends, it’s been hard.”
Now, take that quote and apply it to girls and women in sports in the United States. It’s been hard for girls affected by these so-called inclusive rules who just want to play sports with their friends. They have risked never playing again to take a stand. The Left doesn’t talk about them.
It’s imperative for us to treat everyone with dignity and respect. I don’t doubt it’s been very hard for transgender people everywhere, let alone transgender children, to find a place to fit in. What I will not dignify or respect is the anti-women actions of radical leftists who minimize the importance of enabling women to engage in sports at the safest level by ensuring that they are not forced to play with or compete against men.
Ice hockey player Kelley Grotting said in February that she was disheartened after hearing that women wanted to quit a Minnesota women’s league.
Grotting, who has played hockey since she was 8, said, “I am not a transphobe. To each his or her own, but pretending it’s OK for men to play in a women’s league insults women’s sports and creates safety issues.”
We don’t allow steroids in sports — why are we allowing people with hormones known to make them more aggressive, faster, stronger, and bigger in women’s sports?
Oliver wrongly claimed that there is no evidence that shows that transgender girls or women in sports are creating safety concerns or being unfair. This is a blatant and lazy lie. He has a dozen writers — it’s clear he doesn’t have any legitimate researchers.
Women in sports are more prone to concussions in more tame sports and are up to eight times more likely to experience ACL tears in addition to being more at risk for sprains, stress fractures, and shoulder and head injuries.
Dr. Stacy Sims, who has conducted over 100 research studies on women’s health and is tenured at Stanford University, has a scientifically proven motto: ”Women are not small men.”
Our bone structure is different, our hormones are different, and our fat and muscle cells are different, and we definitely have different strengths and weaknesses physically compared to men. Turns out, a transgender woman doesn’t menstruate, and the data in the sports world show that women’s cycles affect the risk of injury, even during ovulation.
HEY, USA FENCING, WOMEN SHOULDN’T HAVE TO COMPETE AGAINST BIOLOGICAL MALES
Dr. Amy West, a sports medicine doctor at Katz Institute for Women’s Health, wrote about the increased risk to women in sports: “Much of this boils down to biology.” Her work addresses the increased risk of sprains, breaks, and other injuries when a woman is in the mid-luteal phase of her cycle, when progesterone levels are naturally higher.
Transgender women on progesterone are still less prone to these injuries than biological women with XX chromosomes because they have XY chromosomes and biologically innate amounts of testosterone that their female opponents do not. Oliver ignored the science, spouted lies, and helped enable the erasure of girls and women in sports — while including fake laughs for good measure.
