Elon Musk held a rally in Wisconsin on Sunday, during which he discussed the importance of the state’s Supreme Court race.
“What’s happening on Tuesday is a vote for which party controls the House of Representatives,” Musk said.
Republican Brad Schimel is facing off against Democrat Susan Crawford in a race that will decide ideological control of Wisconsin’s state Supreme Court.
“The House majority right now is razor-thin,” Musk said. “It’s really just a few seats. If the Supreme Court is able to redraw the districts, they will gerrymander the districts and deprive Wisconsin of two seats on the Republican side.”
Crawford has indicated that if she wins, the state Supreme Court will redraw the congressional district map, making it more favorable to Democrats.
“The result of that could be that the House switches to a Democratic House,” Musk said. “They will try to stop all of the government reforms that we are doing.”
The Supreme Court election is not as important as the Florida special elections, as the new districts won’t go into effect until the 2026 midterm elections. However, redrawn districts would give Democrats an easier path to retaking the House.
Musk emphasized the importance of voter turnout in the race.
“We are in serious danger of losing this election,” Musk said. “If you look at the betting market odds, it varies between 85% and 90% probability of a loss for Judge Schimel. If the people who voted for President Trump simply vote on Tuesday, we will win.”
Voter turnout is generally lower for nonpresidential elections. However, given the importance of this round of special elections for government control, Schimel may experience a higher turnout than in an ordinary off-year election.
Musk repeated his emphasis on the importance of elections during a Monday call with his America Pac.
“This is almost as important as the presidential election,” he said.
Musk also talked about the voter ID provision on the Wisconsin ballot. If it passes, a law requiring photo ID to vote would be added to the state constitution.
“Voter ID must be put on the Wisconsin ballot so they can’t change it, so we can make sure that elections in the future are honest, fair, and real,” Musk said.

Republicans will still control the House regardless of the outcome of the special or Supreme Court elections. However, a win for the Democrats in any of the elections would diminish Republicans’ razor-thin majority. The party cannot afford to lose more than one member on any policy vote.
Even though the effects of Wisconsin’s election are not immediate in the same way that Florida’s is, it can determine which party takes control of two seats with one vote. Election wins in Florida mean Republicans will have more cushion in future votes. A win in Wisconsin increases the likelihood of holding that majority.
