The climate cult has shifted its sights from negotiations to demands. And it is clear in their methods that, behind any motivation by environmental concern, the operation is antinatalist at heart.
Climate activism has existed for decades, so their argument is nothing new. But newer groups of younger, radical climate activists — ones who fit to the overused moniker “insane Leftists” — take a more aggressive approach to the issue. With now-familiar art museum food-flinging as an example, the messaging no longer hides members’ affinity for outlandish actions such as population control: Regular joys of human life need disrupted for the sake of a climate issue so imminent that nothing else matters.

One could call the movement ascetic were it not so immature. Still, groups have sprung up across the globe. A prominent German sect called Last Generation spray painted city Christmas trees orange last year in protest against fossil fuels. In one sense, they intended the act to communicate a disapproving attitude toward festivity during a time of “climate meltdown.” But the implication of a Christmastime protest is not lost on the activists as they reject the celebration of a birth, and nor should it be lost on observers.
In the States, the young Climate Defiance, formed in 2023, leads in radical climate activism. “Conventional tactics will not suffice,” says the group in its mission statement. They “disrupt,” blockade, and mass occupy — and it all comes off a bit laughable. Most efforts attempt to shut down lawmakers’ and CEOs’ big events, throw profanities at them, and face arrest.
Most recently, Climate Defiance interrupted the American Gas Association’s Christmas party with ruckus and insult. The group noted, “Their children will curse their names. If they won’t let us live, we won’t let them party.”
It does not make much sense why these young people feel so endangered — so immediately endangered that their very comfortable American lives are inhibited — by fossil fuels. All Climate Defiance puts on the table is an obvious truth that they can see, that we cannot, and on which we just need to take their word. Not so convincing when it comes from belligerent and unreasonable youths.
What is more clear is that, despite claims otherwise, Climate Defiance is not motivated by future children’s lives. If it were, its members might be arguing on more family-centered grounds with an eye toward the long game and with overt hatred minimized.

Rather, the activists are the children of the situation. It is no exaggeration to describe the organized events as temper tantrums, and it seems that is what they intend. The movement is not about wanting human life to flourish, but about quelling the fears of young people deeply detached from reality. It follows that they are equally impassioned over “sister struggles” such as freeing Palestine and destigmatizing transgenderism.
Family life, economic success, and national prosperity are all goods that groups such as Climate Defiance have no trouble forfeiting in the name of climate anxiety.
