Every so often, in politics, something ridiculous occurs; it is difficult to believe such absurdity is reality. Several examples occurred during the 2024 election, most notably in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, a suburb of Philadelphia. The Bucks County Board of Commissioners, led by Democrat Vice Chairwoman Diane M. Ellis-Marseglia, who defied a state Supreme Court decision, counted ineligible ballots and tried to interfere in the election.
“We all know precedent by a court doesn’t matter anymore in this country,” Ellis-Marseglia said at the time to justify her illegal actions. “If I violate this law, it’s because I want the court to pay attention. There is nothing more important than counting votes.”
It was an illogical statement made by an agenda-driven, partisan politician. It reveals a level of political unhingement in her thought process. However, if such a rogue decision to defy election law and Pennsylvania’s Supreme Court wasn’t outlandish enough, Ellis-Marseglia’s explanation for her decision certainly was. The county commissioner vice chairwoman blamed her decision to interfere in the 2024 election on the 2022 U.S. Supreme Court decision Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization — otherwise known as the court case that overturned Roe v. Wade.
“When I inartfully spoke and used the word precedent, when I was talking about provisional ballots, I was referring to the United States Supreme Court and the precedent that has been lost on many issues, including Roe v. Wade,” Ellis-Marseglia said.
You read that correctly. A Bucks County commissioner was so distraught over a Supreme Court decision from two years earlier that she decided to exact her revenge by interfering in an election in 2024. Consider her words during a recent hearing over the election drama.
Her comments were met with jeers and boos from the crowd. Those in attendance knew her statement was pure hogwash and the words of not an honest politician but a biased, hyperpartisan activist elected to the county commissioner board who believed she was above the law and that her anger and rage from the Supreme Court protecting the lives of innocent children in the womb was a valid reason to break the law and engage in election interference.
She admits as much in her comments. Ellis-Marseglia’s actions were an egregious violation of election law, and she should be held accountable for them if they happened in any place other than, say, Venezuela in 2024.
“Unfortunately, I took my frustration out on the Pennsylvania Supreme Court, many of whom are friends of mine and who I respect and whose decisions are complicated and difficult and important,” said Ellis-Marseglia. “We are all going to learn lessons from this new media landscape, and most of all, I am. I am a small fish in this big pond. I do not have a megaphone on Twitter or CNN. I am not a secretary of state. I don’t run a presidential campaign. This is the only opportunity I have to set the record straight.”
Ellis-Marseglia tried to create sympathy and portray herself as the victim. However, in reality, this was just a lot of words by her to cover up the fact that she does not respect the democratic process or the laws and rules of our constitutional republic and sought to implement an authoritative and autocratic decision as retaliation for political events not resulting in the way she wanted them to. The sheer audacity to admit she took out “frustrations” during a federal election is such an arrogant admission it warrants legitimate repercussions and consequences.
Democrats are always the ones whining about threats to democracy and “democracy being under attack.” Yet, it is evident this is just nothing more than performative politics and hyperbolic hysteria to mask their own radical, authoritarian intentions to shape and mold the way Democrats want it to be. In turn, they distract the public with fearmongering to strip away the core tenets of democracy and the will of the voters.

Diane M. Ellis-Marseglia represents the worst of politicians and everything wrong with today’s Democrats. They regularly preach about the rule of law and the importance of democracy, but it is all for show, and they don’t believe it. They believe their ideals and principles are the right ones, they are morally superior to everyone else, and they have the right to do whatever is necessary to achieve the desired results.
The actions of Ellis-Marseglia were a disgrace. To blame it on a Supreme Court decision overturning Roe v. Wade is despicable and cult-like behavior. Ultimately, it is a blessing Democrats have not destroyed the constitutional republic the founding fathers created. They created our system of government to protect us from the whims and ambitions of Democrats such as Diane M. Ellis-Marseglia.
