It’s OK to make offensive jokes at campaign rallies if you’re a Democrat

.

On Saturday, a comedian at a HarrisWalz rally made a joke about Mexican people being thieves, drawing laughter from throngs of Harris-Walz supporters. Another joke followed that, once again, ridiculed Latinos community, this time for not being able to “split a check at a restaurant.” Again, the remark drew nothing but laughter from the crowd.

There was no outrage. There weren’t any calls of condemnation. There weren’t any requests to denounce the jokester. There weren’t any accusations of racism. There were just people laughing at a joke a comedian made that used racist tropes about an ethnic group. Democrats find racial and ethnic humor just so long as the person telling the jokes is also a Democrat or at least performing in a Democrat-friendly environment.

The comedian’s name was George Lopez, who is of Mexican descent. This is important given the performative outrage and pearl-clutching done by Democrats, liberals, and other hyperbolic hysterics by Harris supporters in the last 48 hours after supposed funny guy Tony Hinchcliffe made a disparaging “joke” about Puerto Rico. He then made additional offensive and insulting comments about other racial minorities. Yet Lopez’s remarks were arguably just as offensive, demeaning, and insulting. However, Democrats said nothing.

The main difference is that Lopez is a Democrat, and Hinchcliffe was performing under the banner of former President Donald Trump. What the Harris supporters and Democrats will say, however, is that Lopez’s racist and discriminatory behavior was permissible because of his ethnicity — as if the sole determining factor to categorize whether something is racist, bigoted, or discriminatory is dependent on the race, ethnicity, or the skin color of the person who said it. Because Lopez is of Mexican descent, it’s OK if he demeans them or insults them in an offensive manner.

Lopez’s ethnicity is going to be used as the foundation of the latest Democratic hypocrisy and double standard. Democrats are going to say it’s only racist if a white man makes jokes about other races, not a Latino man. They will use verbal and rhetorical gymnastics to support their position. They are also going to say Lopez’s comments cannot be racist, offensive, or insulting because of his ethnicity. Yet, these are the same people who accused Rep. Byron Donalds (R-FL) of making racist comments against black people — even though Donalds is a black man.

However, sifting through all the spin and political chaos, the truth is relatively simple: Democrats are allowed to be racist, make racist jokes, and advance discriminatory narratives simply because they are Democrats. That is the only determining factor that matters to them. The contents, target, and vulgarity of any joke or comment mean nothing to Democrats so long as the person making them agrees with their political ideology.

Any outrage they claim otherwise is nothing more than performative politics. The pearl-clutching and shrieks of victimization are nothing more than propaganda meant to distract during an election. It’s indicative as to why politicians such as Vice President Kamala Harris and President Joe Biden feel they can demean Trump supporters with such ease and not endure any political fallout from it within the confines of their political bubbles. Regardless of how insulting any joke, comment, or remark may be to Democrats, the only thing that matters on their outrage meter is the political allegiance of the person making them.
