Biden will be remembered as a laughingstock

.

President Joe Biden is a political afterthought despite being the most powerful man on the planet for the next three months. It will be part of his lasting legacy as a laughingstock.

Speaking about former President Donald Trump, Biden told voters in New Hampshire that “we’ve got to lock him up.” Biden clumsily tried to pretend he only meant that metaphorically, but given that his administration has been working to make that literal, it is hard to take his delayed walk back seriously.

This should be a national news story in the same vein as the countless “Trump wants to lock up his political opponents” stories that go back to his 2016 campaign against former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. And yet, it is barely a blip on the radar. A member of the Biden administration even told reporter Alex Thompson, “For better or worse, no one is listening to him anymore, and his words have little power and less reach.”

That is a comment made about the current U.S. president, made by a member of his own administration. “No one is listening to him anymore, and his words have little power and less reach.” It was clear since he dropped out of the race that Biden was going to be an absentee president, but to have people who work for him admit that now “no one is listening to him” is a damning indictment of Biden when he is still the one ostensibly in charge of the executive branch for another three months.

This is what will cement Biden’s legacy as a failure. Biden spent three years ruining everything he touched: making inflation worse, botching the withdrawal from Afghanistan, watching wars break out in Ukraine and Gaza when he inherited a peaceful global situation, and running moral interference for terrorists while antisemites swarmed college campuses. There is not one aspect of Biden’s presidency that could be described as successful.

Then, Biden was pushed out of the race by his own party because no one thought he could win reelection. He was undermined in favor of his incompetent vice president, who might just lose anyway, and now members of his own administration admit no one cares what Biden says anymore. In his four years in office, Biden has been a failure and a loser, and he will now finish out his term as an irrelevant afterthought.

It couldn’t have happened to a better man, as Biden spent decades making our politics worse with his toxic political rhetoric and arrogance. Biden indulged all the media fanfare that he could be a transformational figure like Franklin D. Roosevelt. Instead, he will forever be remembered as the old, incompetent man who was tossed aside and forgotten by his own party for the final half-year of his presidency.
