The Justice Department targets enemies of the regime

.

When it comes to the explosion of lawfare under the Biden administration, you’ve got to admit that something just doesn’t smell right. And by that, I mean that it stinks to high heaven.

Last week, news broke that New York City Mayor Eric Adams is facing federal charges relating to alleged bribery, wire fraud, and soliciting illegal foreign campaign donations. The meat of this particular case seems to surround the claim that Adams both sought and accepted illegal campaign funds and over $100,000 in travel benefits from Turkish people.

And what did Adams allegedly do in return for what were apparently airline and hotel room upgrades? Pressure the city’s fire department to hurry along a temporary certification of occupancy for a newly constructed building.

Adams, one of just a few high-profile Democrats who have dared acknowledge the insanity of the Biden-Harris administration’s open border policy, responded by denying any wrongdoing.

“I ask New Yorkers to wait to hear our defense before making any judgments,” Adams said. “I follow the rules. I follow the federal law. I do not do anything that’s going to participate in illegal campaign activity.”

Now, if Adams is indeed guilty of these charges, then his behavior should be condemned. But it’s also important to point out that this indictment only came after Adams swam against the current and criticized the Biden administration’s immigration policy.

For the justice system to be in any way effective, it must exist in an environment of basic fairness, in which people face consequences proportional to their crimes and two people who commit the same sort of crime face the same sort of consequences.

And our current federal justice system guarantees quite the opposite.

Hunter Biden, the son of Joe Biden — the man who is still president of the United States, by the way — has escaped the vast majority of legal consequences for a long list of obvious concerns regarding foreign influence on politics and shameless corruption. Hunter Biden allegedly sold access to his father, but absolutely nothing happened. If it hadn’t been for a handful of Republicans, Hunter Biden wouldn’t have even faced consequences for owning a firearm illegally or avoiding taxes.

What about Paul Pelosi, the husband of Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), and his history of making spectacularly lucky stock moves, with the latest being his decision to dump Visa stock weeks before the Department of Justice filed a lawsuit against the corporation?

And there are even rumors that the disgraced former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo has his eyes on Adams’s job if these indictments stick, as if accepting travel perks is worse than gleefully sending thousands of elderly New Yorkers to their deaths during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Luckily, they’re all Democrats who toe the Biden-Harris party line.

This isn’t to say Republicans or even critics of Democrats should evade consequences for their actions. But it’s a call for the federal justice system to treat Democrats with a fraction of the ruthlessness it reserves for its political enemies. In that world, Adams would be last in a long line of Democrats faced with the merciless reality of actual justice.
