Biden’s debt games are all played out

Elections have consequences. Thanks to Republicans flipping the House in 2022, Americans have champions in Congress: House Republicans, led by Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA), are negotiating on behalf of the public to turn our economy in the right direction and hold President Joe Biden accountable for his hypocrisy and bad policy on the debt limit.
House Republicans are working to give their constituents a voice in these vital economic negotiations. Meanwhile, Biden is refusing to put forward any cogent plan when it comes to the debt ceiling, going against decades of his own precedent and holding the economy hostage to please the far-Left wing of his party. And Americans are paying the price.
HOW BIDEN HAS STRUGGLED TO KEEP DEMOCRATS TOGETHER ON ENVIRONMENTAL PUSH
Let’s be clear: we have a debt crisis, in large part because Democrats are addicted to wastefully spending America into fiscal ruin. House Republicans took the initiative and passed a responsible debt limit increase with common-sense spending cuts to protect our nation’s financial health. What has Biden chosen to do in response? Obfuscate, hide from negotiations, and threaten the country with a catastrophic default on our debt. That’s how desperate he is to cling to his radical, destructive inflationary agenda. Remember: prices have been skyrocketing for months because Biden recklessly spent trillions of unnecessary taxpayer dollars soon after taking office, causing severe damage to the economy. Now that it’s time to put some safeguards in place, he’s refusing to meaningfully engage in the process.
It gets worse: Biden’s absent, failed leadership isn’t just bad policy; it’s rank hypocrisy. As a senator, he repeatedly applauded and supported some of the very things that Republicans are pushing for right now. For example, Republicans proposed saving money by rolling spending back to December 2022’s levels and limiting increases going forward. Those are the exact same spending levels that Biden signed into law in 2022, to praise from House Democrats such as Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY). Now, Biden claims such a measure would be dangerous for the economy.
What changed over the last several months? Nothing material. The real issue here is that Biden cares more about securing some kind of optical, partisan “win” for his own side than he does about keeping the economy intact for our children and grandchildren. It’s cynical Beltway scheming at its very worst, especially from a self-styled fake moderate who has previously called negotiating essential.

Biden has no substantive argument. As a senator, he voted against raising the debt limit at least nine times. And the fact that it’s taken him more than 100 days to even get in a room with Speaker McCarthy tells you everything you need to know. He repeatedly said that Republicans “needed a plan” to address the debt limit and then went dark once they passed one.
Biden has already increased deficits, sent costs skyrocketing, and decreased real wages for Americans across the board. Now, he’s playing Russian roulette with our economic future. This isn’t leadership. This doesn’t even resemble leadership. This is what it looks like when a failed career politician with bad priorities puts partisan points over the health of the country.
