Durham report vindicates Trump and shows many people owe him an apology

Special counsel John Durham released the long-awaited investigation findings into the origins of the FBI’s original inquiry into whether the campaign of then-presidential candidate Donald Trump colluded with Russia to influence the 2016 presidential election. Known officially as “Crossfire Hurricane,” Durham’s report vindicated Trump and was a scathing rebuke of what could only be considered institutional corruption at the FBI.
“Based on the review of Crossfire Hurricane and related intelligence activities, we concluded the Department and the FBI failed to uphold their important mission of strict fidelity to the law in connection with certain events and activities described in this report,” Durham wrote. The revelations are the basis for which Trump long deemed a political witch-hunt.
THE FBI’S INTEGRITY HAS BEEN FATALLY COMPROMISED
Consider some of the other findings of the report.
“Neither U.S. law enforcement nor the Intelligence Community appears to have possessed any actual evidence of collusion in their holdings at the commencement of the Crossfire Hurricane investigation,” the report found. “The FBI personnel also repeatedly disregarded important requirements when they continued to seek renewals of that FISA surveillance while acknowledging — both then and in hindsight — that they did not genuinely believe there was probable cause to believe that the target was knowingly engaged in clandestine intelligence activities on behalf of foreign power.”
The 45th president was openly mocked for labeling accusations of Russian collusion as a “witch hunt,” but the evidence from the Durham report shows that is exactly what it was. And while the Durham report focused on ignominious acts of the FBI, we should also be extremely critical of those who attacked Trump for suggesting the FBI was corrupt.
These were some of the nation’s most influential leaders and decision-makers in the intelligence communities that made many vital determinations that shaped our country’s policy decisions. Many people, such as John Brennan, former director of the CIA, James Comey, former director of the FBI, and James Clapper, former director of National Intelligence, condemned Trump, criticized him, and admonished him for doubting our nation’s intelligence agencies have lost all credibility.
Consider some of their previous statements.
In 2017, during an appearance on NBC’s Meet the Press, Clapper stated that his “dashboard warning light” was on.
“I have to say that, without specifically affirming or confirming these conversations — since, even though they’re in the public realm, they’re still classified — just from a theoretical standpoint, I will tell you that my dashboard warning light was clearly on and I think that was the case with all of us in the intelligence community, very concerned about the nature of these approaches to the Russians,” Clapper said at the time.
In 2018, while writing an op-ed for the New York Times, Brennan stated that Trump’s claims of no collusion were “hogwash.”
“Mr. Trump’s claims of no collusion are, in a word, hogwash,” Brennan wrote. “The only questions that remain are whether the collusion that took place constituted criminally liable conspiracy, whether obstruction of justice occurred to cover up any collusion or conspiracy, and how many members of ‘Trump Incorporated’ attempted to defraud the government by laundering and concealing the movement of money into their pockets.”
And, by now, nearly everyone knows Comey’s position on this entire thing. So, there’s no point in rehashing his comments.
Additionally, while the Durham report doesn’t specify anything about the people mentioned above, their words and accusations, however, are critical to point out here. And they, among many other high-ranking government officials, misled the country and claimed the opposite of what the Durham report revealed. If the people relied on what they claimed and said, the Durham report probably wouldn’t have even existed.
Moreover, none of the so-called experts ever suggested the FBI could be in the wrong. They were too obsessed with rushing to criticize Trump, and they all scoffed at suggestions that any intelligence agency would weaponize its powers for political purposes. Imagine their surprise when it was revealed that the FBI “failed to uphold their mission of strict fidelity to the law.”
They all have egg on their faces.

The Durham report showed that our nation’s premier intelligence officials, and so-called experts, were the original spreaders of misinformation. They used their positions of power to manipulate public opinion and influence the 2016 presidential election. They were the real colluders. While many people, especially Democrats and other elitists on the Left, put the spotlight on Russia, they should have been looking at themselves.
The Durham report is just the latest in a string of investigations to show just how wronged Donald Trump was. Numerous people owe him an apology.
