Biden should acknowledge all of his grandchildren
Matt Lamb
Both Hunter Biden and President Joe Biden should stop denying the fact that the president’s son has a 4-year-old daughter.
The younger Biden appeared back in an Arkansas court on Monday as part of the latest legal battle over custody and payments between him and Lunden Roberts, the mother of Navy Joan Roberts.
WHO IS THE WORSE FATHER: HUNTER BIDEN OR HENRY VIII?
Approximately five years ago, Hunter Biden made a decision that led to a new child of his being created. Those who make adult decisions should also take responsibility and stop treating the results of those choices poorly.
The same goes for Joe Biden, who continues to ignore Navy Joan Roberts’s status as his seventh grandchild. Even the first family’s cat and dog received their own Christmas stockings in 2022. But there were none for Navy Joan Roberts.
The Bidens’ treatment of Navy Joan Roberts contrasts sharply with recent comments the president has made about the importance of “our nation’s children.”
Just a few days ago, Joe Biden approvingly quoted a teacher who said that there was “no such thing as someone else’s child.”
“Our nation’s children are all our children,” the president said. It is time he at least acts that way with his own grandchildren.
It is understandable that Hunter Biden’s out-of-wedlock child with a former “exotic dancer” may be a bit embarrassing for the president. But that was five years ago, and now, there is a beautiful granddaughter of his who deserves love and respect, just as every child deserves from his or her parents. The circumstances of how she was conceived do not change the fact that she deserves dignity and respect.
It would be difficult to find someone whose life is perfect. Human beings are flawed and make mistakes, and those choices have ripple effects throughout other people’s lives. This can happen even to people such as Hunter Biden, who was given all the advantages of being the son of a U.S. senator who became vice president and then president. But other people should not have to pay for his mistakes and his constant squandering of opportunities.
Just like abortion is not justified because of the circumstances of someone’s birth, neither is it appropriate to refuse to acknowledge someone’s grandchild.
Both the president and his son have overall lived good lives. They both have endured tragedy with the death of the president’s first wife, Hunter Biden’s mother, and two of the younger Biden’s siblings. Hunter Biden has struggled with substance abuse and investigations into his financial dealings. But that does not excuse their treatment of Navy Joan Roberts.
Instead, this would be a great opportunity for Hunter Biden to show he is a mature adult and for Joe Biden to show true love to his whole family by ending this sideshow. Arguably, the custody and acknowledgment battles make the situation worse, and one day, this innocent girl will find out what happened.
The president is likely reaching the end of his life, given his advanced age and obvious deterioration. Hunter Biden may face criminal charges, and he has a lot of dark episodes in his past. Both have an opportunity to right the ship and reset the family legacy by taking responsibility for what happened and not trying to shove a family member into the closet and ignoring her.
