Make Easter great again
Christopher Tremoglie
Today is Easter Sunday, one of the holiest days of the year in Christianity.
For those who aren’t Christian and may not be familiar with the significance of the holiday, it commemorates the resurrection of Jesus Christ three days after he was crucified. His resurrection fulfilled prophecies of the Old Testament and the revelation of “God’s salvific plan for all humankind.”
MAJORITY OF PEOPLE SAY RISING FOOD COSTS WILL IMPACT EASTER PLANS
But, as the country veers further and further from God and religion, what used to be celebrated as the holiest of days is now often overlooked by many in the country.
It’s time to make Easter great again. Sure, there are egg hunts and Easter bunnies all over the country. Communities still have parades, and churches have masses. But the overall recognition of the significance of the holiday has diminished. And, on the day set aside to honor the Messiah’s sacrifice for all humankind, Easter is a date that deserves more prominence.
My epiphany stems from a trip to the grocery store earlier this week when I noticed a sign listing the location’s Easter hours. Opens at 6 a.m., closes at 7 p.m., the sign read. And my immediate thought was that some people would have to work a full day on Easter. Things didn’t use to be this way. It may be hard to believe in today’s world after years of Democrats fighting to remove God from society. Still, at one point, businesses were typically closed on Sundays, given the day’s religious significance.
These were called blue laws. Our country was better with them, not necessarily because of laws that kept businesses closed on Sundays but rather the country’s dedication to living a pious and religious life.
More people believed in God, more people were religious, more people had a better set of core values. They cared more about helping others than they do today. They had a greater sense of righteousness and integrity. However, the Left killed much of that as it spent decades trying to remove God and Christianity from everyday lives. Now, instead of devotion to religious principles and morality, people are dedicated to selfish, narcissistic, and hedonistic pursuits — including many that run counter to our country’s founding Judeo-Christian principles.
A famous picture on social media shows what New York City looked like on Easter weekend in 1956. Many of the city’s skyscrapers were illuminated with crosses to honor the holiday. In 2023, such a display would cause chaos and destruction, as indoctrinated left-wing lemmings and minions would revolt under protest, claiming we were violating rights and promoting a Christo-fascist theocracy.
It’s indicative of the sad reality of how far our country has fallen and the sheer madness left-wing political orthodoxy has caused in the nation. We were once taught we had rights endowed by our Creator; we are now indoctrinated to think our liberties are given to us by elected officials. The Left replaced worshipping God, and government became the preferred deity.
We should be ashamed of what our country has become and what the Left has done to society. A shift away from religion has produced little in terms of improving humanity. They have made God, religion, and all the virtues that led to our country’s ascension to greatness, the enemy. Selfishness has replaced selflessness, and instant gratification has replaced a Puritan work ethic.

It has led to a national regression of unfathomable moral rot and decay.
Let’s work to make our country the beacon of virtue it was before the Left led us “into temptation and delivered us to evil.” We can start by resurrecting Easter as the holiday it used to be. The people of the nation will be better off when we do.
