Andrea Mitchell, guru of misinformation

In April 2017, Andrea Mitchell accused then-President Donald Trump and those in his administration of being perpetual liars. She claimed she had never witnessed anyone lie so regularly before. Yet given her career that spans over 40 years, Mitchell has repeatedly been disingenuous with her reporting, often manipulating stories to fit her left-wing political agenda.
NBC NEWS BOTCHES ATTACK AGAINST RON DESANTIS
Last week, during an interview with Vice President Kamala Harris, Mitchell shamefully lied and accused Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) of not wanting to teach about slavery in Florida schools.
“Let me ask you, what does Gov. Ron DeSantis not know about black history and the black experience when he says that slavery and the aftermath of slavery should not be taught to Florida schoolchildren?” Mitchell asked the vice president.
None of this is true, and it is typical behavior from the aristocrats on the Left. They spread misinformation to influence public opinion. But DeSantis never said anything about not wanting to teach slavery in Florida schools. He said he wanted to stop the toxic radical left-wing Howard Zinn version of American history being taught in schools that says America is inherently evil and racist. No normal or rational person would object to this, save for rabid Democrats like Mitchell, who want to brainwash and not educate students.
However, unlike in many of her prior efforts to distort truth and reality, Mitchell received a lot of pushback for her misinformation. It forced her to issue something close to a retraction and try to walk her comments back somewhat. She claimed she had been “imprecise” about her claims regarding DeSantis.
“In my interview last Friday with Vice President Harris, I was imprecise in summarizing Gov. DeSantis’s position about teaching slavery in schools. Gov. DeSantis is not opposed to teaching the fact of slavery in schools, but he has opposed the teaching of an African American studies curriculum as well as the use of some authors and source materials that historians and teachers say makes it all but impossible for students to understand the broader historic and political context behind slavery and its aftermath in the years since.”
What she said here is still 100% false, of course — alternative facts, the phrase Mitchell mocked in the past, have become her modus operandi.
Consider that one of the reasons DeSantis opposed an African American studies course was because it studied such topics as “Black Queer theory” and contained elements of critical race theory. Such things aren’t lessons in history but rather an indoctrination of students to think a particular way about topics. DeSantis described all of this when he explained why he rejected the course. None of it was because of what Mitchell described.
“This course on black history, what are — one of what’s one of the lessons about? Queer theory. Now, who would say that an important part of black history is queer theory? That is somebody pushing an agenda on our kids,” DeSantis said. “And so when you look to see they have stuff about intersectionality, abolishing prisons, that’s a political agenda.”
Moreover, if things were as Mitchell described them, then it is unlikely the College Board would have revised the curriculum, which it did earlier this month. Mitchell attacked DeSantis not because she was correct in her claims but because DeSantis exposed the indoctrination in the course.
Andrea Mitchell is not a news gatherer or even a news-reader. She has repeatedly shown her true colors and cemented her legacy as a guru of misinformation. She is a propaganda artist and should be treated as such.
