Does Jeffrey Epstein’s former BFF really want to insinuate that DeSantis is a sexual predator?

If a “Truth” is sent out on Truth Social and nobody is around to hear it, does it even make a sound?

Hopefully for Donald Trump, the rest of the internet was too distracted on Twitter to notice the former president’s latest temper tantrum about Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL). On his handmade social media site, Trump twice teased that the Florida governor was a sex pest, sharing a photo captioned, “Here is Ron DeSanctimonious grooming high school girls with alcohol as a teacher,” including a kooky left-wing outlet expounding the conspiracy theory.

TRUMP ATTACKS DESANTIS IN SERIES OF SOCIAL MEDIA POSTS

“That’s not Ron, is it?” Trump commented on the photo. “He would never do such a thing!”

Ignore the total desperation that the septuagenarian Trump must be feeling now that the 44-year-old governor, reelected by nearly 20 points in what was once a swing state, is now besting him in some 2024 primary polls. The real danger for Trump is that he, of all people, does not want to play the game of baselessly accusing political competitors of sex crimes.

Let us compare the two GOP presidential front-runners.

Number of marriages: Trump has had three, with multiple affairs throughout at least two of them. DeSantis has married once and is still married to his only wife.

Known association with sexual predators: Trump was former BFF’s with the late sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein, and he publicly wished convicted sex offender Ghislaine Maxwell “well” in 2020. He famously fell out with his former friend and fellow Epstein pal, Bill Clinton. DeSantis, in contrast, has no known ties to any sexual predators.

Number of current lawsuits alleging sexual misconduct: Trump faces at least one, filed by E. Jean Carroll, who alleges that Trump raped her. DeSantis is not being accused by anyone of any such offense.

Public allegations of sexual misconduct: In Trump’s case, there are enough that I wrote an entire article detailing each allegation and its credibility. There are no such allegations against DeSantis.

A presidential primary, especially one lacking an actual sitting president, is a contest, not a coronation. If Trump wants to win back the nomination, he’ll have to beat DeSantis on the merits. These sort of insinuations that the Florida family man is a sexual predator represent hypocrisy of the highest order, coming from a serial philanderer accused of rape and more.

It’s just bad politics, and what’s more, it’s evidence of a presidential campaign already in disarray.
