More than 150 major GOP donors have endorsed Republican National Committee Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel in her reelection bid, giving her a boost just one week before the committee is set to elect its next leader.
In a letter sent to the RNC’s 168 members on Tuesday, the group of donors urged the committee to reelect McDaniel, touting her “good judgment” and “steady hand” during tough election cycles.
REPUBLICAN JEWISH LEADERS ENDORSE RONNA MCDANIEL IN REELECTION BID FOR RNC CHAIR
“Her care and concern for our Party and country is undeniable and she represents us well,” the donors wrote in a letter obtained by the Washington Examiner. “Under Ronna’s unwavering leadership, the RNC has made consistent, critical contributions to the Republican ecosystem.”
The letter provides a major endorsement for McDaniel as she seeks reelection. At least two Republicans are challenging McDaniel, including Harmeet Dhillon, a lawyer and RNC committeewoman, and MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell.
McDaniel has faced a growing number of Republicans calling on her to resign, particularly after a lackluster midterm performance in which the party failed to regain control of the Senate and achieved only a slim majority in the House. The midterm elections led several conservatives to question McDaniel’s leadership openly, with some outright calling for new leadership.
Despite this, the group of donors praised McDaniel’s leadership during the most recent election cycle, arguing it was the chairwoman’s efforts that allowed the GOP to reclaim the House.
“As investors in the Party and successful leaders in our businesses and communities, we believe Ronna should be elected to another term to continue this important work, which she will do with skill and determination,” they wrote. “Ronna is a tireless fundraiser and a trustworthy steward of donor resources. We are confident her continued leadership will put us in the best position to conduct a smooth and victorious 2024 Presidential election.”

Spokespeople for McDaniel have remained confident the chairwoman will be reelected, pointing to a letter circulated by about 100 members of the RNC in November that showed they would back her run. The RNC is composed of 168 members, meaning any candidate must get 85 votes to secure the top leadership position.
The committee is expected to elect its new leadership during its winter meeting scheduled for the end of the month in Dana Point, California.
