Eight shot at Florida MLK Day block party

Eight people were shot at a block party in Fort Pierce, Florida Monday celebrating Martin Luther King, Jr. and the day in his honor.
All eight of those shot were adults and they were brought to the hospital for treatment, including one person in critical condition, Brian Hester, St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office chief deputy said.

Four other people were injured when they were running from the shooting, the sheriff’s office said. Sheriff Ken Mascara added that the shooting happened just hours after the MLK Day parade ended.
A video taken by a witness shows people dancing by their cars and enjoying music when what appears to be gunfire rings out, per CNN. People quickly ran, some ducking behind cars or grabbing children’s hands and running across the street.

The sheriff’s office has not named any suspects in the shooting, and the investigation is ongoing.
