Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD) gave an update on his cancer treatment on Sunday, saying he is “hanging tough” and that his “energy is good.”
The Democrat, who announced his diffuse large B-cell lymphoma diagnosis in December 2022, was asked about the latest in his chemotherapy treatment by Jake Tapper on CNN’s State of the Union on Sunday.

“I’m losing about 40 or 50 hairs a day, I would think, to chemo, so that’s upsetting. But otherwise, I’m hanging tough,” Raskin said. “And the doctors are very optimistic and I’m very optimistic that the chemo is going to get the cancer.”
The ranking member on the House Oversight Committee announced his diagnosis of “a serious but curable form of cancer” at the end of last year, saying he is under the expectation that he will “be able to work.” Raskin has not been visibly prevented from performing his duties since the announcement.

Members of Congress from both parties sent messages of support to Raskin, with his Republican counterpart on the House Oversight Committee, Rep. James Comer (R-KY), expressing his support for the Democrat in his cancer battle.
“Cancer doesn’t stand a chance against a fighter like Ranking Member Raskin,” Comer said in a statement in December. “We are all rooting for him as he and his team of doctors fight this disease. My prayers are with Ranking Member Raskin and his family as he goes through treatment and beats cancer.”
