Kirk Cameron took his faith-based children’s book to a California public library where around 1,000 parents and children waited in the rain to hear him read the story.

Cameron’s television and film career recently embraced the new role of children’s book author with the publishing of his book As You Grow. Last week, the Growing Pains star announced he would be expanding his story time tour to libraries across the nation after receiving an overwhelming response at two libraries that were part of around 50 to reject his story time request originally despite their previously promoted drag queen story hour events.

On Saturday, the Growing Pains star hosted a story time at the Placentia Library, located around 35 miles south of Los Angeles. His publisher, Brave Books, told the Washington Examiner that around 1,000 people packed the library for the event.

‘DO THE NEXT RIGHT THING’: KIRK CAMERON COMMITS TO ‘FIGHT FOR THE MINDS OF OUR CHILDREN’

“All the forces of darkness are no match for moms and dads who are committed to God, and to their family, and to teaching their children,” Cameron told those in attendance.

Cameron told the Washington Examiner that despite the libraries choosing not to sponsor, announce, or promote his story times, he is renting the reading rooms, and “people are finding out anyway,” with attendance being “overwhelming.”

Cameron’s children’s book follows the journey of a tree’s growth and details the value of “biblical wisdom through the seasons of life.”

“I think the most sacred job in the world and the most powerful force for good belongs to parents,” Cameron said. “That’s why God gives children to moms and dads, not the government.”

He added that he is “excited to be joining forces” with parents and grandparents, as “we’re ready to push back and take back not just story time at the library, but the entire process of educating our children and raising the next generation of liberty-loving Americans.”

Cameron said he has plans to visit Chicago, Denver, Atlanta, New York City, and Seattle, among other cities.
