The wife of Rep. Ruben Gallego (D-AZ) criticized her husband for his comments on gas stoves and air fryers, joking that he made it clear to his Twitter audience “who does the cooking” in their home.

Gas stoves have become a publicized controversy after one commissioner of the Consumer Product Safety Commission said the agency would consider banning gas stoves over possible health risks. Several politicians took to Twitter to either support or blast the decision, with some, like Gallego, making jokes.

AOC FIRES BACK AT CRITICS OVER GAS STOVE COMMENTS: ‘UTTER REPUBLICAN MELTDOWN’

“Hot take: Keep the gas stove and get rid of the air fryer,” Gallego said in a tweet. “Only urban elitist use air fryers.”

In response, the congressman’s wife, Sydney Gallego, poked fun at his comment.

“You know we have an air fryer? **Tells you who does the cooking,” she wrote, prompting the representative to give a simple reply: “Damn.”

Other representatives have received less humorous critiques of their comments on gas stoves. Republicans accused Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) of being a hypocrite for having a gas stove after she stated they were “linked to reduced cognitive performance.”

She called the GOP’s reaction to her comments an “utter Republican meltdown.”

“I do think it’s funny the absolute, utter Republican meltdown where they’re like, ‘You can take my gas stove from my cold, dead hands,’ or, ‘How dare you talk about gas stoves, you have a gas stove,’” the New York Democrat said. “First of all, I rent, period. Second of all, it doesn’t even matter. Because, by that logic, these are the same people who would have said we should have never gotten rid of leaded gasoline just because someone may have driven a gasoline car.”
