Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) fired back at critics who mocked her for showing support for a possible ban on gas stoves.
In a video posted on Instagram, the progressive firebrand described the reaction to a possible ban on gas stoves as an “utter Republican meltdown.” She also waved off Republican accusations of hypocrisy over her possession of a gas stove, saying it was because she was only renting her home residence.
AOC FACES HEAT ON TWITTER AFTER SUGGESTING LINK BETWEEN GAS STOVES AND BRAIN DAMAGE
“I do think it’s funny the absolute, utter Republican meltdown where they’re like, ‘You can take my gas stove from my cold, dead hands,’ or, ‘How dare you talk about gas stoves, you have a gas stove,’” AOC said in a mocking tone. “First of all, I rent, period. Second of all, it doesn’t even matter. Because, by that logic, these are the same people who would have said we should have never gotten rid of leaded gasoline just because someone may have driven a gasoline car.”
“Science evolves and gives us new knowledge with time,” she added.
