Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) unveiled gas stove-inspired merchandise in response to regulators floating a possible ban on the appliance.
Conservatives have fired back after Consumer Product Safety Commission Commissioner Richard Trumka Jr. said in an interview with Bloomberg that gas stoves are a hidden hazard and that his agency might consider banning them.
Seizing on the sentiment against the possible ban, DeSantis allies unveiled new merchandise poking fun at the ban. They used a design that is a variation of the Gadsden flag.

“When we say Don’t Tread on Florida… that includes OUR GAS STOVES!” Team DeSantis wrote in a tweet. “Show the Left that they’re not taking those away from us anytime soon… Secure yours now.”

The new item is a yellow apron inspired by the famous Revolutionary War flag and is emblazoned with an image of a gas stove and text saying, “DON’T TREAD ON FLORIDA.” According to the website, the item is made in the United States and costs $25.
So far, the design is only available on an apron.
White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre clarified that President Joe Biden does not support banning the appliances and that no ban is being considered.

“The president does not support banning gas stoves,” she said Wednesday. “And the Consumer Product Safety Commission, which is independent, is not banning gas stoves. I just want to be very clear on that.”
