Guitarist Jeff Beck died Tuesday at 78 years old.

Beck, lauded by many as one of the greatest guitarists of all time, “peacefully passed away,” said his family. They reported that a sudden infection of bacterial meningitis caused his death.

“It is with deep and profound sadness that we share the news of Jeff Beck’s passing,” his family said in a statement. The family further asked for privacy as it deals with Beck’s death.

The album was announced onstage alongside Depp just after the trial verdict had been revealed.

“I’m going to take this opportunity and tell you I met this guy five years ago, and we’ve never stopped laughing since,” Beck said at the time. “We actually made an album. I don’t know how it happened. It will be out in July.”
