Suspect in Paris train station knife attack ‘neutralized,’ minister says

The suspect in an attack at a major train station in Paris Wednesday morning was “neutralized,” France’s interior minister said.

The attack happened at the Gare du Nord central railway station in Paris. Gérald Darmanin said several people were injured in the attack but did not share if the injuries were caused by a knife. “Thank you to the police for their effective and courageous response,” the minister added in his statement on Twitter.

Reuters reported six people were attacked by a man with a knife, leaving one person with major injuries, according to police, who added that the suspect was shot several times by officers and then taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

The attack comes less than three weeks after three people were killed and another three were injured at a Kurdish cultural center in Paris. The Paris prosecutor’s office opened an investigation for murder and attempted murder.

The Gare du Nord station is continuing to operate normally.
