An 82-year-old Walmart employee was able to retire due to the generosity sparked by one man’s TikTok fundraiser.
Navy veteran Butch Marion retired last week from his job at a Cumberland, Maryland, Walmart after customer Rory McCarty shared video of Marion working and posted it on TikTok along with a GoFundMe link.

The video went viral and raised more than $100,000 to help Marion retire, according to FOX 5.
McCarty said he was inspired by a previous TikTok video that helped an 81-year-old woman retire from her New Jersey Walmart job.
“I just wanted to put something in motion, and the Lord did the rest,” McCarty said.
“I feel like a new man,” Marion said as he received his check for $108,682. “This is just unreal.”

Marion reportedly worked around 30 hours a week. He said the money would help pay off bills, allow him to relax, and provide means for him to visit his children and grandchildren in Florida and hug them — something he said he hasn’t been able to do in years.
