Vice President Kamala Harris’s husband has told Democrats that the party should rally behind her if President Joe Biden chooses not to seek reelection in 2024, according to a new report.
The effort by second gentleman Doug Emhoff to box out Harris’s potential future rivals “causes eye-rolling” inside the White House and comes as some officials question the vice president’s prospects going into 2024, Politico reported Tuesday.
DEMOCRATIC ELECTION LOSSES WILL SPUR CALLS FOR BIDEN TO STEP ASIDE IN 2024
While West Wing officials “believe Harris is on stronger footing now than she was in her first year [they] remain skeptical about her viability in 2024,” the outlet said.
While Biden has said he intends to seek reelection, some Democratic Party lawmakers have begun calling for a new generation of leadership. The outcome of the midterm elections could also speed calls for Biden to step aside.
