Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) slammed the new House speaker on Saturday for conceding “all the power of his office to the crazies” in a bid to win the speakership.

“He had to give away the house to do it, and that was a sacrifice he was willing to make — for the title,” Schiff wrote in a tweet.

SPEAKER MCCARTHY MAKES COSTLY CONCESSIONS TO LOCK DOWN THE GAVEL

“He will be a speaker in name only,” added the California Democrat.

Schiff tweeted the statement shortly after newly elected Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) clinched the votes to win the gavel early Saturday on the 15th ballot.

In his Twitter bio, Schiff writes that he is the “Chairman of the House Intelligence Committee,” but under the new House Republican leadership, he will lose that title, and McCarthy has said he plans to remove him completely from that committee.

“Another change you’re going to get: Adam Schiff will no longer be on the Intel Committee when I become speaker. I promised that more than two years ago,” the representative told Fox News host Maria Bartiromo in December.

McCarthy said that Democrats such as Schiff have “used the intel community as well to lie to the American public.”

“Should those people keep their clearances? Should those people still be allowed to have information? If they’re going to be political individuals, then, no, they should not. And this is just the tip of the iceberg of what we need to investigate going forward,” the Republican from California said.

In response to threats by McCarthy for his committee removal, Schiff told CNN that McCarthy “can’t get to 218 without Marjorie Taylor Greene and Paul Gosar and Matt Gaetz” and that he will do “whatever he needs to do to get the votes of the QAnon caucus within his conference.”

“Looks like Kevin McCarthy conceded all the power of his office to the crazies to finally get their votes,” wrote Schiff Saturday morning on social media.
