Lin Wood says he will testify in Georgia election investigation

Attorney Lin Wood says he will appear Wednesday morning before the Fulton County, Georgia, special grand jury investigating efforts to overturn the 2020 election.
Wood, an avid supporter of former President Donald Trump who participated in efforts to mount challenges against the 2020 election, confirmed to CNN that he would sit for deposition before the panel, which is set to reconvene after a brief hiatus before the midterm elections.

Investigators are apparently keen on learning about meetings Wood claimed to have held in South Carolina during the 2020 fallout in which he helped with efforts to challenge the election. He had been informed earlier in the year that he was a material witness in the sprawling inquiry, the New York Times reported.
Wood had championed a slew of cases in court challenging the 2020 election that were largely tossed out on standing. One of his allies in that venture, Sidney Powell, had been subpoenaed for testimony by the panel earlier in the year.

The Washington Examiner reached out to Wood for comment.
Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis began the inquiry last year in response to audio that surfaced of a call in which Trump prodded Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger about the need to “find” 11,780 votes in Georgia in order to reverse his loss.
A special grand jury in the matter was impaneled in May to help with the investigation. The panel can assist with subpoenas and recommend charges, but it can’t levy criminal charges on its own. Willis can pursue criminal indictments via a separate, regular grand jury.

Since the dawn of the inquiry, investigators have garnered testimony from a number of prominent witnesses such as Raffensperger, attorney Rudy Giuliani, and others.
Investigators have also sought depositions from Gov. Brian Kemp (R-GA), Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC), former White House chief of staff Mark Meadows, and more.
