Damar Hamlin’s uncle gave an update on his nephew’s health Tuesday, also sharing the harrowing details surrounding the efforts to save the Buffalo Bills safety’s life.
Dorrian Glenn said Hamlin is on a ventilator, but has improved from needing 100% oxygen to just needing 50%. “He’s still sedated but main focus is recovering to breathe on his own & healing lungs,” NFL Network reporter Cameron Wolfe added from his interview with Glenn.

Hamlin needed to be resuscitated twice after collapsing on the field during Monday Night Football’s standoff between the Buffalo Bills and Cincinnati Bengals, Glenn told CNN. “His heart had went out so they had to resuscitate him twice. They resuscitated him on the field before they brought him to the hospital and then they resuscitated him a second time when they got him to the hospital.”
“I’m not a crier, but I’ve never cried so hard in my life. Just to know like my nephew basically died on the field and they brought him back to life,” the 24-year-old safety’s uncle added.
Glenn said the doctors have kept his nephew sedated in order to try and optimize the healing process. “We are just taking it day by day. It seems like he’s trending upwards in a positive way,” Glenn said, asking people to continue sending prayers for Hamlin.
