According to Sheriff Darin Balaam, a family member had been driving the vehicle. The actor then used his PistenBully snowplow to free the car. After doing so, the plow began to roll. Renner then tried to get back into the driver’s seat to stop the plow but was instead run over by it.
Balaam reported that it is not believed Renner was impaired during the event. The incident was labeled a tragic accident, emphasizing that no foul play was involved.
