In the early morning hours of New Year’s Day, lewd audio was transmitted over a northern Virginia police department’s radio system. Now, the officer responsible is under investigation.

The Fairfax County Police Department was made aware of the inappropriate transmissions later the morning of Jan. 1. The broadcasts in question occurred just after midnight.

According to the FCPD, “Our Internal Affairs Bureau quickly investigated this alleged misconduct and the police officer involved was interviewed. We have confirmed this officer was off-duty and in his personally owned vehicle. No other person was in the vehicle with him.”

The department explained that the officer responsible had forgotten to turn off his radio, which was in the trunk of his car. It was then accidentally activated as he was driving.

“Our investigation revealed that the off-duty officer was listening to ‘audio porn’ over his Bluetooth in his vehicle, which was captured on his activated police radio. The ‘audio porn’ in question has been positively confirmed as the same file broadcast over our police radio system,” FCPD added.
