‘Vote for Your Daughter’: DC artist paints and displays statues of 51 girls on Capitol grounds

A local D.C. artist set up 51 life-sized statues of girls on the Capitol grounds in a project called “Vote for Your Daughter” on the eve of Tuesday’s midterm elections.
The project’s statues, called “fearless girls,” were painted with several colors. The display was visible for only a few hours on Monday.

The goal for the project is to make people think about the rights of women, particularly their daughters, as they head to the polls on Tuesday, the artist, Maggie O’Neill, told WJLA ABC 7 News.
“These are beautiful little girls in all shapes and sizes and all of them are Americans and all of them have lost their rights in at least 17 states,” O’Neill said. “The reason why this is so important tonight is I do believe that art can get to people in a different way than propaganda.”
O’Neill hopes the project will be able to travel to all 50 states.
Election Day will bring an end to a whirlwind of an election cycle, with the fallout from several Supreme Court cases, the state of the economy, and a host of other topics bringing voters to the polls across the nation.
