Riley Gaines and Joe Rogan lament ‘control’ of speech

Former University of Kentucky swimmer Riley Gaines joined Joe Rogan in mourning the loss of speech that is truly free, as a result of the Coronavirus pandemic.

Gaines appeared on the Joe Rogan Experience in an episode released Thursday. There she retold the story of her rise to fame after tying for fifth place with transgender swimmer Lia Thomas at a national swimming championship. She claimed there were restrictions on the athletes as to what could and couldn’t be said about Thomas as a transgender athlete.

“I think a lot of this truly — again, being a college athlete during the time of COVID — I think that’s when they learned they could control us,” Gaines said.

“I agree with you that it did start during COVID because it started during this exercise of control and mandating things,” Rogan said. “And they didn’t do it based on any data, especially with young athletes.”

Both agreed that the purchase of Twitter by Elon Musk was a win for free speech in America. Before Musk took over, Gaines’s account had been removed due to her posting on that platform that there are two sexes.

“If I was from another country and I was trying to ruin America … I would do it through social media. I would have the Democrats almost universally control social media. Except this one wild African-American, this one wild genius dude decides to buy Twitter,” Rogan said. “If he didn’t do that, we would genuinely be f***ed. We would be in real pickle.”

“So God bless Elon Musk,” Gaines agreed. “I really think he single-handedly almost really turned this culture around. So, God bless him.”

Speaker of the House Mike Johnson (R-LA) will have Gaines as his guest to the State of the Union Thursday night. Gaines praised Johnson’s “fight for women and common sense” while “the Biden administration pursues their illegal administrative rewrite of Title IX.”
