Alyssa Farah Griffin claims Mark Meadows blocked her from preventing Trump bleach comment

Alyssa Farah Griffin claims she attempted to prevent then-President Donald Trump from receiving a report that led to him making a remark about injecting disinfectants to treat COVID-19.
Griffin asserts that then-Vice President Mike Pence wanted to show Trump the report, which suggested that exposing the body to sunlight, heat, and disinfectants could be a treatment for COVID-19.
She says she did not want Trump to see the report for fear he would misinterpret it.

“And I went to Mark Meadows and I said, ‘Sir, this is going to blow up in our faces. He’s not ready. Like, what are we encouraging? Are we saying, like, you know, go buy a humidifier? Do we want to put a run on humidifiers? Or turn your heat up to 95 degrees?’ Like, it just didn’t make any sense,” Griffin said in testimony. “And Meadows overruled me, and we got the injecting bleach thing.”
Trump, in discussing the report during an April 2020 press conference, asked about disinfectants: “Is there a way we can do something like that, by injection inside or almost a cleaning?” He added that the idea “sounds interesting to me.”
The Trump White House at the time said the comments were taken “out of context” and that citizens should always consult their doctor for treatments.
“President Trump has repeatedly said that Americans should consult with medical doctors regarding coronavirus treatment — a point that he emphasized again during yesterday’s briefing. Leave it to the media to irresponsibly take President Trump out of context and run with negative headlines,” then-White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany said in a statement in April 2020.

The revelation that Griffin tried to intervene was found in the transcripts from the Jan. 6 committee, which featured many high-profile Trump administration officials, including Jared Kushner, Ivanka Trump, and former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo.
