Stimulus update: Direct payment worth $1,312 to be sent to some Alaska residents in 23 days

.

In 23 days, the Alaska Department of Revenue will issue checks from the Permanent Fund Dividend to another round of eligible residents who have yet to receive their payments from the state program.

The Alaskans who will get their PFD checks on March 21 include residents who had the “Eligible-Not Paid” status as of March 13 and have not yet received their payment from the program for 2023 or earlier.

Applications for the 2024 Permanent Fund Dividend are open between now and March 31, and the forms can be filled out online or on paper. An applicant must intend to remain a resident of Alaska indefinitely and may not be a convicted felon, among other requirements, to qualify for the program.

The state’s Permanent Fund Dividend gives out payments to eligible residents every year based on the state’s annual mineral revenues for that year. The 2023 PFD check was worth $1,312, with the money going out beginning in October.

“The 2023 PFD marks the 42nd year Alaskans have received their share of the state’s natural resource wealth,” Alaska Department of Revenue Commissioner Adam Crum said in a statement about the 2023 payment. “I would like to thank our Permanent Fund Dividend Division for their tireless work year-round in administering the program and processing the applications.”

“This year, we processed over 8,000 more applications than in 2022,” Crum said. “The 2023 PFD will inject nearly $1 billion into the state’s economy and directly into the hands of Alaskans.”
