Trump-backing truckers threaten to ‘shut New York City down’ after fraud ruling

.

Truckers supporting former President Donald Trump have threatened to stop taking shipments into the Big Apple in an effort they warn could “shut New York City down.”

The calls for truckers to boycott New York City came after a judge in Manhattan fined Trump and his business associates $364 million in a business fraud case brought by New York Attorney General Letitia James. One post from a person named Chicago Ray said he was hearing of other truckers planning not to accept shipments into the city.

Ray said drivers had been speaking with him over the radio and claimed they were “going to start refusing loads to New York City starting on Monday” in a since-deleted video that went viral shortly after it was posted on Friday.

In a subsequent post on Monday, Ray said he stands “with Trump 100%” but also claimed he “ain’t the leader of any movement” and said any decisions drivers made had to be “based on their families and their careers.”

Another trucker, Jennifer Hernandez, expressed her support for the boycott in an interview with NewsNation. She explained it could make a significant impact on the country’s largest city but also said she was not aiming to hurt New Yorkers.

“It could shut New York City down. I’m not trying to hurt the people of New York; that’s not what I’m trying to do,” Hernandez told the outlet.

“But if New York loses just 10% of the trucks that go in there, their prices are going to skyrocket on everything — from milk to eggs to any type of goods that the consumer needs. When that happens, it’s going to cost everyone more money,” she added.

Trump expressed support for the drivers shortly after Ray’s initial video went viral, calling it “such an honor” to have their support.

“Such an honor to have so many Great Patriots on the side of FREEDOM! Joe Biden’s Unfair and Dangerous Weaponization of Law Enforcement is a serious threat to Democracy. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!” Trump said in a post on Truth Social on Saturday.
