Stimulus update: Direct payment worth $1,312 to be sent to some Alaska residents in one day

.

In one day, the Alaska Department of Revenue will send out payments from the Permanent Fund Dividend to another swath of eligible residents who have yet to receive their dividend checks.

Those who had the “Eligible-Not Paid” status as of last Wednesday and have not received their PFD payments, from 2023 or earlier, will get their checks from the state program on Thursday.

Applications for the 2024 Permanent Fund Dividend are open from now until March 31. Eligible Alaskans can fill out the form for the program online or via paper form.

For an Alaskan to qualify for the PFD program, he or she must intend to remain a resident of the state indefinitely and must not be a convicted felon, among other requirements.

The state program sends out payments every year based on Alaska’s annual mineral revenues for that year. The PFD check for 2023 gave eligible Alaskans payments worth $1,312, with distribution beginning in October 2023.

“The 2023 PFD marks the 42nd year Alaskans have received their share of the state’s natural resource wealth,” Alaska Department of Revenue Commissioner Adam Crum said in a statement about the 2023 payment. “I would like to thank our Permanent Fund Dividend Division for their tireless work year-round in administering the program and processing the applications.”

“This year, we processed over 8,000 more applications than in 2022,” Crum said last year. “The 2023 PFD will inject nearly $1 billion into the state’s economy and directly into the hands of Alaskans.”

More details regarding the program, including eligibility requirements and where to apply, are available on the Permanent Fund Dividend website.
