Former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley defended her husband after her 2024 opponent Donald Trump attacked him in a speech.
Trump was in South Carolina Saturday addressing a rally in Conway to get out the vote ahead of the stateās Republican primary on Feb. 24. Haley is also in South Carolina on the campaign trail after serving as the governor there. During his speech, Trump commented on Haleyās husband, Michael Haley, who is a National Guardsman.
āWhereās her husband? Oh, heās away. Heās away!ā Trump said of him. āWhat happened to her husband? What happened to her husband? Where is he? Heās gone.ā
āMichael is deployed serving our country, something you know nothing about,ā Haley responded on X. āSomeone who continually disrespects the sacrifices of military families has no business being commander in chief.
Haleyās husband is on a voluntary yearlong deployment in Africa.
While Haley has made stops along her home state, her staff has passed out competency tests with a prompt on the top that read: āCan you pass a mental competency test? Can Joe Biden? Can Donald Trump?ā The questions involved naming animals, language fluency, and memory.

Trump and Haley are the final two Republican candidates left in theĀ 2024 presidential election. Trump has earned the endorsement of most of the former candidates, including Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL), Vivek Ramaswamy, and Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC).
HaleyĀ has lost in each race so far, starting with the Iowa caucuses on Jan. 15. Since then, Haley has been defeated by Trump in New Hampshire, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and Nevada.
