Machete-wielding college professor fired again over social media post on ‘Zionists’

.

The ex-Hunter College professor who went viral last year for wielding a machete to a reporter’s neck has been fired from another college, this time over a social media post she made.

Shellyne Rodriguez, who had been teaching at the Cooper Union college, revealed to her students that she was fired over a social media post about “Zionists” and said her time teaching at the school was over. Her email comes only a few months after the Hamas terrorist group attacked Israel on Oct. 7, with the Israel-Hamas war continuing since then.

“This is fascism,” Rodriguez wrote. “Y’all are learning about it in real time. Stay strong, stay brave, stay defiant, don’t bite your tongue, and drink plenty of water!”

Her email was shared on Instagram by the Cooper Union Students for Justice in Palestine group, which claimed that Rodriguez’s firing marked an “intense escalation of McCarthyist repression” of those in support of Palestinians. The group also asked its followers to email the school dean “in solidarity” with Rodriguez.

Rodriguez taught at Hunter College in New York City before she was approached by a reporter and held a machete to the reporter’s throat. She told the reporter to leave her alone and that she was “gonna chop you up” before slamming her apartment door in the reporter’s face.

The reporter had attempted to interview Rodriguez after she went viral for destroying a display table put up by anti-abortion rights students at Hunter College.

The Cooper Union declined to comment to the Washington Examiner.
