There are only three days left for Idaho residents to file their taxes and receive a rebate that will give them up to $600.

The Gem State is giving this rebate to anyone who has been a resident of Idaho for the full year of 2020 and 2021 and has filed their taxes for the same tax years. The state defines a full-year resident as someone who has either kept a home in Idaho for an entire year and spent more than 270 days of the year there or as a person who has domiciled in the state for the entire tax year, according to the state’s tax commission.

The specific payment that residents will receive from this rebate will either be $300 for individual filers and $600 for joint filers or 10% of a taxpayer’s 2020 income taxes, whichever option is greater.

Idaho residents eligible for this rebate who provided banking information when filing their 2021 tax returns will receive this payment through a direct deposit to their bank account. For anyone else who is eligible, they will receive this rebate via a check in the mail.

The state has already been issuing these rebates since September, with the intent to give all of the payments by March 2023. Approximately 75,000 rebates are being sent out by the tax commission every week.

In total, the tax commission estimates that it will send about 800,000 rebates by March of next year, all of which will total $500 million.
