A man in Indiana was taken into custody on Dec. 20 after he allegedly murdered and dismembered his father believing he was a robot.

Shawn Hays, 53, was arrested after authorities responded to a welfare check relating to Hays’s 73-year-old father Rodney Hays, according to a report citing a probable cause affidavit.

WOMAN SHOT DEAD BY POLICE AFTER HOLDING WALMART EMPLOYEE HOSTAGE

Police had been told by a person appearing to be Hays that he had shot and dismembered his father because the 73-year-old had become a robot.

Arriving on the scene, Hays was “hastily attempting to exit the property in a silver Chevrolet pickup.”

Officers removed a shotgun from the vehicle, and Hays explained that he had not killed a human. Instead, he had destroyed a robot resembling his father.

“It’s a robot that looks like a human … laying over there,” he told authorities. “I had to shoot at it to destroy it.”

Prior to the incident, Hays had reportedly posted on Facebook about his father being a robot.
