Ron DeSantis given ‘participation trophy’ during event in Iowa

Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-IA) was handed a “participation trophy” during a campaign event in Iowa.

Davram Stiefler of the duo “the Good Liars,” known for public stunts targeting right-wing figures, took advantage of a recent town hall with DeSantis, approaching and trolling him with a “participation trophy,” poking fun at his low polling numbers.

“Gov. DeSantis, I want to present to you this participation trophy,” Stiefler said, to laughter from the crowd. “Now you’re probably not going to win the election, right? But we’re proud of you for trying.”

“I don’t do participation trophies, sorry buddy. Sorry buddy, sorry,” DeSantis replied, pushing away the trophy, as his wife, Casey DeSantis, motioned at security to escort him out.

“He’s special, he’s unique, and he’s our little snowflake,” Stiefler continued, as security officials began to lead him away.

He unsuccessfully tried to hand the trophy to DeSantis again as he was guided out.

Rep. Chip Roy (R-TX) stood next to the couple during the incident without comment.

A climate protestor attempted to crash another town hall hosted by DeSantis on Thursday. Security tackled the man to the ground and DeSantis addressed him directly.

“Second thing is second, excuse me, hold on,” DeSantis said. “Excuse me. I’m doing this… but you’re interrupting and you’re being rude. Everyone else is listening. And you’re butting in. I don’t care. I know you have an agenda. I know you have an agenda.”

He later referred to the protester as “numbnuts.”
