New York Mayor Eric Adams revealed he has not met with President Joe Biden for the past year, despite his public pleas for help with an influx of immigrants into his city.

Adams was asked at a press conference about the possibility of meeting with Biden over the migrant crisis after the mayor took aim at his administration’s handling of the matter. He expressed confusion over why Biden would not meet with him.

“I met with the president several times on this issue in ‘21, I think early 2022, the dates get confused,” Adams said.

“It baffles me,” he continued. “New York City is the economic engine of the state and of the country. And I don’t have the answer.”

New York is one of several Democratic cities targeted in Gov. Greg Abbott’s (R-TX) immigrant busing effort, in which thousands of immigrants have been shipped to blue cities to raise awareness for the problem and offset pressure at the border.

Adams has struggled to deal with the sudden influx, arguing that his city did not have the proper facilities to deal with it. He publicly has pleaded with the Biden administration to help deal with the crisis, though his calls apparently have fallen on deaf ears.
