FIFA launches investigation into Salt Bae’s ‘undue’ field access

Internet personality Salt Bae is being investigated by FIFA, which claims he had “undue access” to the field at the World Cup Final.

Salt Bae, whose real name is Nusret Gokce, is a Turkish chef who became the center of controversy after he made his way onto the field and appeared to accost Lionel Messi and Argentine players after their win over France.

The internet chef, who has 49.8 million followers on Instagram, took photos with players and even got his hands on the FIFA World Cup Trophy.

Only “very select” people are permitted to handle the trophy, according to FIFA.

These include World Cup winners, FIFA officials, and heads of state, according to a report.

“Following a review, FIFA has been establishing how individuals gained undue access to the pitch after the closing ceremony at Lusail stadium on 18 December,” a FIFA spokesperson said.

“The appropriate internal action will be taken.”

Salt Bae is the owner of a chain of luxury restaurants where he has served countless athletes and celebrities.

He gained internet notoriety for the way he seasoned his meats.
