“Literally trapped for hours in your motorcade traffic!!!” another user wrote to the president on X. “Can you not do this to us? We LIVE here.”

“Are you aware of the utter traffic chaos you caused between 355, 270, the beltway and GW parkway tonight with your motorcade at RUSH HOUR this evening?” another user wrote to Biden. “Don’t they have a helipad at NIH man? Do you even care?”

NIH does have a helicopter pad called the Walter Reed Landing Zone for air traffic stops. By car, the distance between the nation’s capital and Bethesda is under half an hour.

In March 2020, then-President Donald Trump visited the NIH for the first time in his presidency. At the time, he traveled by helicopter. There are also photos of President Lyndon B. Johnson arriving via helicopter.
