Whoopi Goldberg is ditching Twitter amid Elon Musk’s recent takeover of the platform. However, she’s leaving the door open for a possible return.
“Some speech is not OK free speech,” Goldberg told her co-hosts on The View on Monday.

“I’m getting off today because I just feel like it’s so messy, and I’m tired of now having had certain kinds of attitudes blocked, and now they’re back on,” she said of her Twitter departure. Goldberg boasts 1.6 million followers on the account.
But, “if it settles down and I feel more comfortable, maybe I’ll come back,” she said.
She composed a final tweet after the Monday broadcast, saying goodbye to her followers.
“To everyone, thanks for everything! Until we meet again! Love, Whoop,” The View host tweeted Monday.
Goldberg is only the latest celebrity to leave the social media site after Musk’s takeover. Several have announced their own departures since the deal’s finalization.
During the show, Sunny Hostin chimed in to claim that Musk is turning Twitter into something “it was never meant to be,” adding that “I don’t want to be a part of that public square.” Despite her complaints, Hostin remains active on the platform, as do the remaining hosts.
“Who owns what you write on Twitter?” Goldberg wondered. “See, there’s too many questions right now.”
Ana Navarro said that she believes Twitter should be regulated similarly to the way television and radio stations are.

“They keep saying that it’s free speech,” Goldberg said. “All speech is not free speech.”
