Food stamps: Direct payments worth up to $1,691 for November to wrap up in Delaware in 10 days

Delaware’s Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program will wrap up its November payments, worth up to $1,691, in 10 days.
Delaware’s SNAP starts distributing payments on the second day of each month. The First State is unique for having one of the longest distribution windows in the United States. Payments are distributed for most of the month. The first letter of a recipient’s last name determines their issuance date.

Payments for November are distributed between Nov. 2 and Nov. 24. People 21 years old and younger who live with their parents must apply with them.
The amount for SNAP payments in Delaware is determined by the household size of recipients. Single-person households receive $281, and eight-person households receive $1,691, according to Delaware.gov. In households larger than eight, $211 is included for each additional person.
To qualify for SNAP payments in the First State, a household’s income cannot exceed 200% of the federal poverty level; a single-person household cannot make more than $2,266 monthly, and an eight-person household cannot make more than $7,772.
Delaware SNAP payments are automatically loaded on a Delaware Food First card, an electronic benefits transfer card. The card can be used like a credit card, but it is only for food and nonalcoholic drinks. The funds cannot be used on luxuries of any kind, including alcohol and tobacco products.
Created through the 1964 Food Stamp Act as one of President Lyndon B. Johnson‘s Great Society programs, SNAP has said it aims to improve the nutrition of impoverished people by supplementing their food costs.

The funds received each month remain on the card without expiring as long as the card remains in regular use. Recipients can check the amount on their Delaware Food First cards by checking their last grocery receipt.
SNAP is active across all states and Washington, D.C., and there are some variations across each.
