The House Financial Services Committee will be holding a hearing on Thursday to examine current global restrictions on Iranian funds.
The hearing will look at why the $6 billion in restricted Iranian funds the Biden administration agreed to unfreeze during a prisoner swap deal with Iran was sent to Qatar, according to the hearing notice. It will also focus on why the Biden administration permitted Iraq a waiver to transfer $10 billion in restricted Iranian funds to Oman — and potentially other jurisdictions.
The hearing is expected to begin at 9:00 a.m. EDT.
