A majority of Democrats believe that first son Hunter Biden should be investigated for his overseas business dealings, a recent poll found.

Some 54% of Democrats back the Justice Department investigating the younger Biden, accompanied by 88% of Republicans and 74% of independents, a Fox News poll determined. Across the spectrum, 72% of all voters surveyed believe it is important to investigate his business dealings, matching the findings from a poll conducted in August.

HUNTER BIDEN’S ‘SUSPICIOUS’ CHINESE BUSINESS DEALS TO BE INVESTIGATED BY HOUSE REPUBLICANS

Despite broad support for investigating HunterBiden, voters are split on what such an inquiry will yield. About 70% of Republicans think he committed a crime and 63% think his father engaged in criminal activity. Meanwhile, a mere 11% of Democrats believe Hunter’s activity may have been illegal and 8% think President Joe Biden may have done something illegal in his son’s overseas dealings.

Already, the DOJ has been scrutinizing the younger Biden for various tax offenses and a false statement about a gun purchase. Many federal prosecutors believe they have unearthed sufficient evidence to lodge criminal charges against him, the Washington Post reported in October.

Following revelations from his laptop that surfaced near the eve of the 2020 election, Hunter Biden’s overseas dealings have been thrust into the political limelight and fed fodder for Republicans who are gearing up to investigate him once they roar into power in the lower chamber next year. They have speculated that he leveraged his father’s political position to cut lucrative deals.

This includes questions over President Joe Biden’s past diplomatic maneuverings in Ukraine amid his son’s position on the board of Ukrainian energy firm Burisma. Republicans have also raised concerns about Hunter’s ties to a firm with links to the Chinese Communist Party. The president has denied wrongdoing and argued he was not in the loop on his son’s dealings.

Overall, 47% of respondents believed that Musk’s $44 billion takeover of Twitter was a positive development, compared to 39% who saw it negatively.
